Letters Home
RE: COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE SCHOOL
The school is committed to improving communication to parents and we are delighted that 95% of you feel that the school communicates well with parents (Annual Parent Questionnaire 2011). We try very hard to keep parents regularly informed about what’s going on at the school, however, sending paper letters home can be rather ‘hit and miss’ with letters often going astray along the way. We are also increasingly aware of the substantial cost, time and environmental impact associated with the amount of paper and photocopying involved with this.
We would like to invite all parents to provide us with their email address(es) so that we can email letters to you directly. From 26 March, we will only send out emails and, if you have signed up for emails, you will no longer receive paper copies. This will save us a considerable amount of time when photocopying. Copies of letters will also be placed on the School website on the new page called ‘Letters’.
The advantages of signing up to have letters emailed to your email address are:
We can send messages directly to mums and dads at the same time
- You will quickly know about important or urgent messages
- We can tell you more about what’s going on at the school
In order to initiate communication in this way, we would like you to send an email to email@owps.org.uk including the following information in the Subject Bar:
NAME OF CHILD / CLASS / YEAR GROUP
A separate email will need to be sent for each child with separate emails from each parent / carers email address so that you can receive email letters direct from the school.
Please be assured that we consider Data Protection to be very important and all information you provide will be kept private. E mail messages will be sent from email@owps.org.uk so please add this address to your email address books to prevent messages from being blocked by your spam filters.
Any parent who does not supply us with an email address will continue to receive paper copies as usual. When a reply slip is required, we will send everyone a paper copy so that you do not have to print out the letter at home.
Yours sincerely
Simon Eardley
