A Message from OWPS

Dear Parents and Carers,

Just one week of the half-term left, and we have now reached the halfway point of the school year already when you consider the number of days we have in school! Where does the time go? The children and staff are getting excited about our upcoming singing competition which will happen next Wednesday. I am sure some of you may have heard your children singing their group's chosen song.

Understandably, there was concern amongst parents this week after hearing about the email that had been sent to some schools in other local authorities. No Peterborough school received the email and those dealing with the situation believed it to be a hoax. Nevertheless, all schools were notified and staff were made aware. We have strong safeguarding measures in place at all times in school and a lockdown procedure should that ever be required. I'm happy to report that it was business as usual and the children remained happy and safe throughout the day.

Parents Evening

We are looking forward to seeing you all next week for our Spring term parents' evenings. Please make sure you are somewhere appropriate when you join the online meeting, ideally somewhere quiet and not in a public space. Teachers will be sharing with you how the first half of the year has gone so far, the progress your children have made and what areas they need to focus on from after half-term. You have until Sunday to book an appointment and reminders have been emailed today to any parents who have not booked yet.

Safer Internet Day 2025–Tuesday 11th February

Next Tuesday is International Safer Internet Day and this year's theme is: Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online

Each year we focus on this important day in school and my whole school assembly on Monday will be focused on the importance of keeping ourselves safe online and this year's theme. If you would like to know a bit more about the day, this link will take you to 'saferinternet.org': Safer Internet Day 2025 - UK Safer Internet Centre

Have a great weekend everyone.

Year 5/6 Netball Match
Last Thursday, the Year 5/6 Netball Team welcomed St Johns Church School for a netball game at Wistow. I was really proud of how polite and welcoming the girls were, as this was our first time hosting a game this academic year. For a few of the girls, this was their first ever netball game. They sho...
