Dear Parents and Carers,
My first newsletter of the new term and I can’t quite believe we have already finished our second week back! The weeks are flying by.
Anti-Bullying Week
This week marked our Anti-Bullying Week, a time for us all to reflect on the importance of kindness and respect. Our PSHE lessons centred around this theme, empowering our pupils to understand the impact of bullying and how to stand against it. As part of our activities, we celebrated Odd Socks Day, where students wore mismatched socks to promote individuality and acceptance. It was wonderful to see the children embracing this message with such enthusiasm. In our whole-school assembly on Wednesday, Mr Newton, our Anti-Bullying Lead, also inspired our pupils by sharing valuable insights and encouraging an open dialogue about bullying.
OPAL Launch
Exciting news! The countdown to our soft launch of OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) has begun, with only three days to go! The children are buzzing! From Monday 17th November, all year groups will have the opportunity to mix during lunchtimes, enhancing their social interactions. This week, the children have enjoyed guided tours of the school grounds with their class teachers, helping them familiarise themselves with the boundaries of playtime activities. We are looking forward to seeing how this enriching experience unfolds!
Parents Evening Thanks
Thank you to all those who attended Parents’ Evening earlier this week. It is always rewarding to connect with parents and share updates about how your children have settled into the new school year. The strong communication between home and school at Orton Wistow is something we value immensely. As a reminder, Mr Nolan (Y2 Nighthawks) will be holding some of his appointments on Wednesday 19th November.
Thank you for your continued support – it won’t be long before these newsletters are full of all things Christmas!
I think I will begin my present shopping this weekend.
See you all on Monday.
Warm regards,
Miss R Tansley
