A Message from OWPS

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have reached the end of another half-term and once again, we are all ready for a break! It has been a great six weeks in school and as ever, looking back it is always hard to believe we manage to fit so much in.

Football Tournaments

We had several OWPS teams represent our school at football tournaments this week. After the boys and girls' teams finished top of their tables this year, they then got to play in the finals at the POSH ground! The girls got through to the semi-final and after a close game, lost on penalties. The boys made it through to the final and were narrowly beaten 1-0 by their opponents. Yesterday, our mixed team went to another competition organised by Key Sports and they won! They came back with an impressive looking trophy that we will find a home in our rather trophy cabinet. Well done to all the boys and girls involved in these competitions.

Eco Awards

Ms. Porter took a small group of children to the Eco Awards event yesterday and they came back having won three awards! I am very grateful to Ms. Porter and the Eco-warriors we have in school for all they do to promote the importance of looking after our environment and these awards have recognised their hard work and the commitment we all show at OWPS.

Mornings

Just a polite reminder that we ask children to come into the classrooms independently in the mornings without their parents. If you have a question or message for the class teacher that can't be sent in via email to the school office, please wait outside their classroom and they will come and speak to you. Thank you.

Are you smarter than a Wistow pupil?

A couple of questions that have been asked in classes this week for you to attempt. Good luck!

1.  Which of Henry VIII’s wives gave him the son he was desperate for? (Year 3 history)

  1. Anne Boleyn
  2. Catherine of Aragon
  3. Jane Seymour
  4. Catherine Parr.

2. What is bipedalism? (Y6 Science)

I hope you all have a great half term break. I shall see you back in school on Monday 5th June.

Year 6 Choir- Singing Schools Event

By Holly Ellis, Year 2 Class Teacher | Drama Lead | Art Lead | OWN Trust Arts & Culture Champion |

On Friday 19th May, the Year 6 Choir took part in the Singing Schools Event in the Peterborough Celebrates Festival at Ferry Meadows. After a soggy a journey, we were given a warm welcome from Garry and Louise from the Nene Park Trust. Lunch and the chance to dry out, set us up for a fun afternoon of celebrating music. The choir rehearsed alongside other local schools and practised singing with a live band from the Cambridgeshire Music Hub. They practised songs which we had rehearsed at the choir club and learnt a new song called 'Pop Idol'. The event finished with a fabulous live performance to family and friends in the Big Top tent. The Wistow choir sang their hearts out on stage and performed with beaming smiles. Thank you to the pupils who took part and for Nene Park Trust and the Cambridgeshire Music Hub for hosting such a fun event
