A Message from OWPS

Dear parents and carers,

I hope you all enjoyed the half-term and made the most of the few days we had of bright and dry weather. It has been a great start to this very short half-term and the children have settled well into the second half of this academic year.

Open Day

We were joined by over one hundred family members on Wednesday for our Open Day and it was great to see the hall full of children and family members looking through the work the children have completed so far this year. At the end of each year children will bring home a selection of some of their books for you to look through and keep.

Clubs

The Spring term clubs continued this week and will carry on until Friday 15th March. Please remind your children of the clubs they should be attending, especially those that take place during lunchtimes. The Year Six booster clubs carry on past the 15th.

Book Week

We are all getting excited for this year's book week taking place next week. Miss Tansley and Mrs Fidgett will launch the week during Monday's assembly and then we have lots of book related activities lined up for all the children to enjoy. We are hoping to see lots of children come back to school for bedtime stories on Thursday.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Coffee Morning - Friday 8th March

FOWS is inviting you to join us for a "Brew at Two", on Friday the 8th March, in the school staffroom. Come and chat with us and each other from 2pm and enjoy a tea or coffee and maybe some cake or biscuits.

Request for Raffle Prize Donations for Summer Fair!

FOWs are starting to prepare for our Summer Fair in July, and we are looking for your support.  One of the highlights of our summer fair is always the raffle, and we are kindly asking for donations of raffle prizes.

We understand that many of our parents and carers have their own businesses or work for generous employers who might be willing to contribute. Some ideas for raffle prize donations could include:

  • Vouchers for services such as window cleaning, gardening, or house cleaning
  • Gift certificates for beauty treatments, massages, or spa services
  • Bicycle servicing vouchers or accessories for cycling enthusiasts
  • High street vouchers that can be used for shopping, dining, or entertainment
  • Food or drink related vouchers – maybe afternoon tea or a bottle of champagne

These are just a few suggestions, but we welcome any and all contributions that you or your connections might be able to offer.

If you or someone you know would be interested in donating a prize to support our school community, please don't hesitate to contact us at fows@owps.org.uk or send us a message via our Facebook page. Your generosity will directly benefit our students and help make our summer fair a huge success.

Word Millionaires Spring 1

As part of our reading scheme in KS2, children embark on their journey into Accelerated Reader.  After a child completes reading a text they take an online quiz, which records their word count and then at the end of each half-term, we see if we have any 'Word Millionaires', across  the key stage.

Congratulations to the following children who have joined the Millionaire's Row this half-term:

Lucy F who is a new Word Millionaire!

Cian C, Alex B, who have become double Millionaires

Mason P who has achieved a whopping quadruple million!

Honours Award - 27th February 2024

Congratulations to the following children who all received the Keep Learning Honours Award.
