Miss Tansley, the Assistant Headteacher, writes...

As we move further into the term, it’s been wonderful to see our children so settled, enthusiastic, and ready to learn. A huge thank you to all our families for your continued support and involvement — it really makes a difference to the sense of community we share at Orton Wistow.

Year 1 – Family Learning Success

What a fantastic turnout we had for our Year 1 Family Learning session! It was wonderful to welcome so many family members into school to explore maths methods together — including the use of the trusty abacus! The children loved sharing their learning with you, and we’re so grateful for your engagement and enthusiasm.

We are already looking forward to Year 5 Family Learning coming up next week, and can’t wait to welcome those families into school next.

Clubs in Full Flow

Our clubs are now in full swing, offering children a great range of lunchtime and after-school opportunities. A big thank you to all the staff who give up their time to run these sessions — your commitment ensures our pupils have such rich and varied experiences beyond the classroom.

If your child is signed up for a lunchtime club, please encourage them to look out for the picture cards held up by our midday supervisors, so they know when it’s their turn to go in. A gentle reminder at home can really help children get to the right place at the right time.

Honours Awards – Celebrating Settling In

This week we also held our first Honours Award of the school year, recognising pupils who have made a fantastic start and settled in so positively. Congratulations to all our worthy winners — we are so proud of you!

Thank you to the parents and carers who joined us for the celebration; we hope you enjoyed the occasion. We look forward to welcoming more families next time when our Honours Award theme will be “Creativity.” Teachers are actively looking for someone to celebrate in their classes who shines in a creative subject, such as; art, dance, drama or music.

As always, thank you for your continued support and encouragement. We are so proud of our pupils and grateful for the strong partnerships we share with our families. Have a restful weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday!
