This week the Shark class have been using descriptive writing to create tension and atmosphere around Shackleton's journey to Antarctica. We have used relative clauses, personification, similes and metaphors, plus an element of 'show don't tell' to evoke a sense of panic and fear. Finnley S completed his work using the checklist and colour-coded these elements afterwards.

In Year 5 this week we have been writing adventure stories about a magic sandwich who escapes from a boat, based on the story A Boy, A Bear in a Boat by Dave Shelton. We've then made our stories into sandwich shaped books. Here is Isla's sandwich story.

Callum in Year 5 has created a watercolour painting inspired by the setting of 'The Highwayman.' He then wrote a detailed setting description which included a variety of sentence types.


Annabelle has completed a wonderful interpretation of an illustration by Levi Pinfold. This was inspired by the book ‘The Dam’

Katie from the Toucans has created a wonderful double-page spread, comparing an Eastern European country to England as part of our geography learning. Well done Katie!
