Mr Marks, the Headteacher, writes...
Dear parents and carers,
After today, only seven school days left of this academic year! Seems like everyone I talk to feel like this year is flying by. Still a lot for us to look forward to in the coming days and it remains a busy time of year.
Sad Farewells
As well as saying goodbye and good luck to our Year Sixes, we often say the same to a few members of staff. We are very lucky to have low staff turnover at OWPS but this makes these goodbyes even harder as often they have been part of the school for a long time. Firstly, we will wish Miss. Mouzoures good luck for her final year at university. She has spent this year working in Key Stage Two and will be missed by the staff and children. Miss. Mouzoures was a pupil at OWPS and it has been lovely to see her back here working alongside other staff and children for the year. We all thank her for hard work and dedication to the role.
Secondly, we will be saying a very sad goodbye to Mrs. Johnson, our Learning Mentor. Mrs. Johnson has worked in the school since 1999 in various roles but a number of years ago she became our first official learning mentor and she has gone on to have an incredibly positive and significant impact on many pupils at our school. Mrs. Johnson is one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I know and she has helped children over the years cope with significant challenges that have made being successful in school very hard. We have thought about how to say thank you in school over the coming days and we all hope she has a wonderful and well-deserved retirement.
Every Child An Artist
It was great to see so many families in school from 3.30pm on Tuesday to help us celebrate the wonderful art and music projects the children have taken part in this year. These creative elements to the curriculum have always been important to us at OWPS and the work and talent on show that day was incredible to see. Thank you to Mrs. Terreblanche (art lead) and Mrs. Francis (music lead) for all their hard work this year helping to improve those parts of our curriculum.
I hope you all manage to keep cool this weekend, looks like it is going to be a hot one! I shall see you back in school on Monday for our final full week of the year.
