This week, the Penguins and Turtles have enjoyed exploring the story Handa’s Surprise. Many of our activities were based on the book, including colour-mixing at the painting table to create the fruits from the story. Can you spot the green crown of the pineapple and the purple passionfruit?
This week in Year 2, we have been working hard on our writing. The children have been trying to include lots of different elements to make their work stand out, such as interesting vocabulary and varied sentence types. All of this has been linked to our focus book, Man on the Moon: A Day in the Life of Bob.
The children have really enjoyed exploring the story and using it to inspire their own wonderful ideas.
In the Wombats this week we have been creating a spiral art project from a variety of mediums. This is some of the fantastic work that the class have been producing.
This is work completed by Hattie in the Koalas, Year 2.
The Koalas have been writing questions about a character in our new book. We used question words such as 'how' and 'what' and finished our sentences with question marks.

In the FS the children have been learning about Harvest and enjoyed the story of the Little Red Hen. They have made bread as part of our activities this week and have also made their own pictures at the creation station. Darla used scissors and glue to make her little red hen.
This week, we created some artwork using the leaves we collected last week. We carefully decided how best to arrange them on the page. Inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, the children have produced some lovely and thoughtful pieces of work.
In the Koalas class, Erin has written some lovely sentences using verbs, adjectives and nouns.
In English, the Foxes have been reading Lost in the Toy Museum. Saule has written some sentences about the pictures in the story, remembering her capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
The Koalas have been learning about animal welfare in PSHE. This is a poster about how to look after pets, created by one of the children.
Following on from learning about 'people who help us' the children thought about what they would like to do when they grow up. Chester has chosen to be a barber and written a sentence independently using his phonic knowledge.
In DT this week we have been designing a minibeast hand puppet. Here is an example of one of these designs.
In FS this week, we have learned about rhyming words. Nancy thought of her own sentences to write using pairs of rhyming words.
