Our English is based on the book Varjak and this week we have been making decisions on what we think Varjak should do next. He must decide whether to leave the family house or stay put. The children really got into the role, writing words of advice for what they thought the right decision was.
The Iguanas have been writing persuasive adverts to entice customers into buying a brand new Stone Age invention...a wall! Haven't those children done an incredible job!
In the Giraffes class this week, the children worked together to create a role on the wall to collect some ideas, for a character description about Varjak Paw written by Lily Mehmed. They then wrote sentences describing his character and appearance.
In Design and Technology we have been creating our Anglo-Saxon illuminated letters. We cut the letter of our choice out and used two different stitches to attach them. We then started to add some embellishments to finish them off.

The Seals have been reading poems from ‘The Lost Words’ book. This week, we’ve read the poem ‘Heather’, we analysed it and drew some beautiful pictures of the flower using pastels. Here is Elloise and Anna’s fantastic drawings!
In Science, Ruby and Owen have showcased their knowledge of plants. They've included information about seed dispersal, parts of a flower and pollination.
This week in ART we have been putting the finishing touches to our dragon eyes. We spent time choosing which colour we thought would look best and then spent an afternoon painting them. We are all happy and proud of what we have created.

In the Seals music lessons this term we've been listening to disco music! This week, we played with different percussion instruments and then recorded all we learnt. Here is Mae's work.
In Art, Anna and Anandavalli have been creating a landscape on fabric using acrylic paint. They have experimented with different hues, tints and dilutions. The girls have started using thread to add some textural marks.
In computing this week we have focused on online safety. Making sure children know when to report such things as cyber-bullying and to make sure they are an upstander, looking after not only themselves but friends as well.
