  • Celebrating Success 21.06.24

    Published 21/06/24

Here at Orton Wistow Primary School, we recognise that success comes in all different shapes and sizes! We celebrate the children's achievements in school in the Achievements section of the newsletter and website.

Many of the children, however, are also achieving things outside of school.  We would like to recognise these successes too.

It might be that your child has passed a music or dance exam, gained a karate belt, starred in a show, volunteered, taken part in a sporting event, or done something that they didn't think was possible!

If you would like to share your child's achievements with us so that we can celebrate their success, please complete the Celebrating Success form which can also be found below.  Contributions will be considered for inclusion in upcoming editions of the newsletter.

We look forward to hearing about your children's extracurricular achievements!

    This Week's Successes!

Last year, Migle embarked on her ice skating journey, and in under 10 months she has whizzed through all 10 levels of skate excellence courses. During that time, she won the Skating Star competition, took part in a sold out Christmas show Wizard of Oz, and Easter show Circus on Ice. Recently, she competed in Artistic competition, where she won gold in her category, thus securing a place in the national Artistic competition, which will take place at Milton Keynes ice rink on the 20th July. We wish her the best of luck!

  • Year 4 Cambridge Botanical Gardens Trip

    Published 21/06/24

The Year 4 children had a fantastic experience at the Cambridge Botanic Gardens. We explored the gardens, marvelling at the diverse array of plants both outside and within the glasshouses. The instructor-led activities were closely tied to our unit on living things and their habitats. Using classification keys, we identified various pine cones and explored the gardens to find the trees they originated from.

    Published 14/06/24

On 6th June, the Year 4 children were joined by their adults for our 2 can learn. This year we decided to focus on ART and children used clay to help bring their designs for dragon eyes to life. It was really lovely to see everyone working together and through this shared experience we saw some great teamwork. The finished pieces looked incredible, and the children are really proud of what they produced. Thank you to everyone who came and supported this event.

    This Week's Successes!

George has had a successful season with Orton Rangers Football Club, and he won The Players Player award. He is also a regular at the Ferry Meadows Parkrun (5k) but last week came first in the Central Park Junior Parkrun (2k). Well done!

Millie from Year 6 climbed Ben Nevis over the half-term. What an achievement at such a young age. Keep it going!

This Year 6 child has been practising and studying music since she was 5 and has recently been inducted as a full chorister at Pembroke College Girls’ Choir in Cambridge. Along with weekend music and singing lessons, she has attended choir rehearsals two evenings a week and recorded an album with the choir as a probationer over the last year. An amazing achievement requiring dedication and perseverance - well done.
