FOWS Donation Friday
Don't forget it's our last Donation Day before the Christmas Fair on Friday 24th November next week. We would really appreciate any unwanted bottles of any sort, and as a reward, the children can wear their own jumper to school.

Keep up to date with the latest news at Orton Wistow Primary

We will NOT be taking any cash on the day
Thank you!
Here at Orton Wistow Primary School, we recognise that success comes in all different shapes and sizes! We celebrate the children's achievements in school in the Achievements section of the newsletter and website.
Many of the children, however, are also achieving things outside of school. We would like to recognise these successes too.
It might be that your child has passed a music or dance exam, gained a karate belt, starred in a show, volunteered, taken part in a sporting event, or done something that they didn't think was possible!
If you would like to share your child's achievements with us so that we can celebrate their success, please complete the Celebrating Success form which can also be found below. Contributions will be considered for inclusion in upcoming editions of the newsletter.
We look forward to hearing about your children's extracurricular achievements!

This year 6 child, who loves everything musical, successfully auditioned for the solo singer part in Mimi and the Mountain Dragon, which will be played live with the Peterborough Youth Orchestra and local professional musicians, at The New Theatre, Peterborough, on 28 November.
Well done, we are very proud!
On Wednesday 8th November, thirty children from the OWN trust schools began a twelve-month environmental project in association with Nene Park Trust. One of the aims of the project is to encourage members of the wider community to access the Park.

As part of our reading scheme in KS2, children embark on their journey into Accelerated Reader. After a child completes reading a text they take an online quiz, which records their word count and then at the end of each half term, we see if we have any 'Word Millionaires' across the key stage.
We would like to celebrate Mason P from Year 3 as our first 'Word Millionaire' from Autumn 1 term and look forward to seeing many more millionaires join as the year progresses. Well done to Mason, we hope you wear your badge with pride.

The mission of Operation Christmas Child (run by Samaritan’s Purse) is to provide God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ at Christmas. For some children, this gift-filled shoebox is the only present they will have ever received. In these difficult times, many are struggling to make ends meet – but the poorest of the poor are most affected and children need to know they are loved; today more than ever.
If you feel able to pack a box or simply give a small gift to the shoebox appeal, Orton Wistow Primary School are collecting both filled shoeboxes and individual items which will be safely packed and processed by a local group.
Click the link for more information and a video of how boxes change children’s lives: https://www.samaritans-purse.org.uk/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/
Individual gifts or items, as well as filled boxes can be dropped off into prepared collection boxes in the school reception, between now and Friday November 10th. Thank you!
Please see the attached poster for more details on gift suggestions and also what not to give.
New! New! New! FOWS Competition. Win £25 cash!
New to 2023, FOWS is introducing a fundraising competition where you could win £25 cash by shopping online in November!
The best thing about this competition is that you don't have to part with any extra money from your own pocket. When shopping online open your browser though easyfundraising.org.uk or the easyfundraising app, make sure your cause is set to Friends of Orton Wistow School, click the link to the website you wish to shop on and spend as normal!
We can see how much money each individual has raised and the winner of the £25 is the person who raises the most for FOWS on easyfundraising during the month of November.
So not only can you raise money for us while doing your Christmas shopping, you can use it for big purchases, such as insurance, furniture or even your 2024 summer holiday!
The winner will be announced at the Christmas Fair on the 8th December.
Use the QR code on the poster to get started or use the following link Friends of Orton Wistow Primary School Fundraising | Easyfundraising
Happy shopping!

We had people from the local foodbank come in this morning to collect all the food that was donated by the children and parents of Wistow School. The food will be given to help out families in Peterborough.
Some children in Year 6 helped to pack it all up and send it on its way.
A big thank you to everyone who donated!

Children at OWPS are invited again to design the parish Christmas card for St Andrew's Church. The winning entry will be on the card that is distributed around Orton Wistow, Orton Northgate and Alwalton. If your child wishes to take part, they may collect an entry form from school, and should return their form and design to the postbox in the school main entrance by Monday 6th November. Please ensure all sections of the form are completed, and that the form is signed by a parent/carer.

These girls in Year 4 ran the Great Eastern 5K fun run on Sunday, raising money for their Cheer Team East Elite. Both did amazing, supported each other and completed the run in a great time. Well done girls!
