Peterborough Football Finals
Having won both of their leagues, the girl’s team and boys’ team were invited to a final day at the Peterborough United stadium. All of the teams who attended had won their leagues. Both teams were unbeaten in their groups and progressed into the Semi Finals of the competition. The girls faced Eye and after a 1-1 draw faced a penalty shootout. Maddie Turner was brilliant in saving 6 penalties but unfortunately it wasn’t our day. A learning curve for the girls but again they were brilliant. The boys went one better and got to the final. They lost 1-0 to Southfields and took the runners up medal home.
A hugely successful year for both football teams, a very bright future ahead for many of the children. I wanted to say a massive well done to all of the boys and girls who have played for the school team this year, your passion and commitment has been ever present.
Year 6 Key Sports Football Tournament
On Thursday the 25th May, the Year 6 children took part in the Key Sports football tournament. They battled hard to come second in their group and earn themselves a spot in the semi-finals. Showing real desire, they won 2-0 in the semis and progressed through to the final. They faced Eye in the final and having already lost to them in their group Wistow knew it would be a hard game. With only a minute left, the boys scored a counter-attack goal and won the match 1-0. An incredible achievement to top off a wonderful year for the team. Well done boys!
