    In the Giraffes, children have been practising drawing eyes.  Once they had practised the shape and outline, children experimented with adding colours and effects, using a variety of media, such as charcoal, watercolour, drawing pencils, felt pens and oil pastels.  The ideas will be used to design an eye sculpture, to be made later this term from clay.

    Foxes class have been sewing illuminated letters this week. They had to join materials using a running stitch and then embellish their work with sequins, beads and buttons. They showed a lot of resilience and perseverance throughout the day.

    The Giraffes have read to the end of their class text 'Oliver and the Seawigs.'  In the book, Oliver Crisp and Iris (a mermaid), are bullied by Stacey de Lacey, who is determined that Thurlstone will win the Night of the Seawigs.  At the end of the story, Stacey floats away on a raft, having been defeated, with the sea monkeys clinging onto him.  We have written apology notes from Stacey, asking for forgiveness from Oliver and Iris.  We learnt to use a 'the more, the more' sentence and include this in our writing.
