Grafham Water

Grafham Water is an outdoor learning residential venue run by Cambridgeshire County Council.  Based on the shore of the UK’s finest inland sailing venue, the Centre offers an exciting but safe environment to learn in, highlighted by the stunning natural backdrop of the 80 hectare Grafham Water Nature Reserve. The area is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which the children love to explore!

While at Grafham Water, the children take part in many small group activities (led by a trained leader).  These include; whammal sailing, kayaking, orienteering, high ropes, low rope, crate stacking, mountain biking and the bike track.  All activities are fully risk-assessed and there is a first aider present at all times during the day.

Children have hearty, healthy meals throughout the day and are taught to set the table and have quiet discussions about their activities.  The centre is fully aware that some children may have intolerances and/or allergies and are fully equipped for these dietary requirements.  The evening entertainment revolves around having team-building games or a cinema night with hot chocolate whilst wearing our pyjamas!

"I enjoyed the boating because I got to experience what it is like to go sailing and I got to spend time with my friends and solve my own problems." Year Four Child 2018

"I enjoyed Grafham because it was completely independent and we did some great activities such as the bike track! We also got to hang out with our friends and help each other make our own beds - which was tricky!" Year Four Child 2018
