Meet The Governors
Mary Foreman – MAT Governor/Chair Of Governors
I have been involved in the world of education for around 30 years, starting off many years ago as a parent governor when my children were at Infant school. I spent many years as a school governor and a chairperson of the Friends of their junior school. A career change, moving away from working as a sales executive, meant that I undertook teacher training as a mature student. My teaching roles and responsibilities were many and varied but my teaching specialisms were in science and maths in primary schools. More recently I have developed my own educational consultancy and work with schools that are experiencing challenging circumstances.
I am a parent and a grandparent - my children and grandchildren passing through Peterborough schools and colleges. My children have gone on to develop successful careers for themselves while my grandchildren are developing as learners in a Peterborough Primary School. I look forward to providing challenge and support to Orton Wistow Primary School as a governor during my term of office.
Dr Dharshanna Sridhar – MAT Governor
A geneticist and medical doctor, Dr Sridhar was head-hunted into policy-making at the heart of Government where she has over fourteen years of experience in advising successive Prime Ministers, taking forward significant Parliamentary legislations as well as working across central Government departments overseeing policy initiatives from devolution to setting up the UK’s first Supreme Court and many more, whilst also completing a doctorate in socio-legal studies during this time.
Having been a parent governor at an inner city primary school in London where she also chaired the finance committee, Dr Sridhar has significant experience in the role and was part of the core team responsible for leading the school from a ‘notice to improve’ to a ‘good’ Ofsted marking.
A strong advocate of empowering women and children to be true to themselves and achieve their full potential, she has also led voluntary expeditions to the rural areas of South Asia to help provide basic education and needs to the people. A voracious reader and a trained classical Indian dancer, Dr Sridhar loves to swim, play tennis or bake cakes, in her spare time.
Mark Bewick – Parent Governor
My name is Mark Bewick and I am the father of Chloe, who attends Orton Wistow Primary School, and Emily, who is currently in pre-school and should be joining in September 2019. I have lived in Orton Northgate for just over 4 years and in Peterborough all of my life.
My background is in Information Technology and for the last 13 years I have worked in Problem Management and Service Management roles – I currently work as Director of Service Management for a company called Refinitiv where I lead a global team of Service Managers improving service for employees and customers.
I like to innovate, I am transparent and I enjoy challenging the norm – I trust that my approach to work and life will compliment and adds value to “the school”.
Whilst this is my first role as Parent Governor, I am a parent and I care deeply about ensuring that my children and the children of others have every opportunity to succeed and that they receive the very best education. My commitments are to work hard to learn about the school and this important role; to support the children and staff (the “school”); and to work with others to deliver improvements.
Dr Jan Clark – MAT Governor
I am Dr Jan Clark and I am a MAT Governor.
I also have a role as English Governor and as Equality Governor.
This is my first experience of being a school governor, but I have been in Education all my working life. I have lived in Orton Wistow for over 25 years and have watched, with great interest, the school being built and grow over the years. I come into school each Tuesday morning to listen to students in years 5/6 read as a Reading Buddy and I enjoy this enormously.
Janice Colvin – MAT Governor
My name is Janice Colvin and I am a newly appointed MAT Governor. I have lived in Orton Wistow for almost 30 years and both my children attended Orton Wistow Primary School. I recently retired as a Community Paediatric Physiotherapist based at the Child Development Centre. I believe that the knowledge and skills I acquired over many years working for the NHS will help me in my role as School Governor with responsibility for Special Educational Needs, Safeguarding and Child Protection.
David Perkins – MAT Governor / Vice Chair of Govenors
Hi, I'm David Perkins, one of the two Parent Governors and am now in my second term in the role. Over my time on the Governing Body, I've also been the Equality Governor and am now currently helping with E-Safety and the content of the Governor Blog.
My background is in IT and Information Security, which I hope complements the industry knowledge brought in by my fellow governors.
Suzanne May – Parent Governor
I am a proud mother of two boys who currently attend Orton Wistow Primary School (OWPS), Archie (Year 2) and Freddie (Foundation). I have lived in Orton Wistow for 6 years and in the local area for my entire life. Having previously worked in senior management for Next Retail, I now work part time within a primary school office, and also as a swimming teacher.
As a parent I realise how important education is and how what they experience now at OWPS will shape the future they have ahead of them. We all want the best for our children, a good education within a school that cares about its pupils and their parents, allowing the children to achieve their potential in an exciting and enjoyable environment. We have all chosen OWPS based on the excellent work that they do, and as a parent governor I plan to support the school as they continue to strive for excellence.
I have experience of working within a school, which provides me with an understanding of the challenges faced on a daily basis. I believe the children’s interests and development should be at the heart of all decision making. I hope to bring a fresh pair of eyes and offer valuable input which will look to ensure that all our children are happy, confident and given every opportunity to realise their full potential.
Adam Green - MAT Governor
My name is Adam Green, Husband to Katie, Dad to both Harry (3) and Chloe (1). Harry is currently at Orton Wistow under 5’s and will be starting Orton Wistow in September this year. We have lived in Orton Southgate for 6 years however I have lived in Peterborough all my life and attended local schools.
I am a keen golfer, an avid reader (Currently reading ‘Mindset’ by Carol Dweck). I also enjoy days out and our holidays together as a family.
Professionally I work in Banking where I am employed by Barclays and have been for the last 14 years. I have held a variety of roles from Area Leadership to my current role within our Performance & Transformation Team where I support the business with the delivery and implementation of both strategic and regulatory change.
This is my first Governor role and I am looking forward to getting started and supporting the school moving forward.
Hayley Fidgett - Teacher Governor
I am Hayley Fidgett and I am Staff Governor.
I have been a member of staff at OWPS for the last 5 years and have been teaching both in the local area and internationally for 9 years. Having been educated at OWPS as a pupil myself, I feel very at home here!
In my time teaching at OWPS, I have worked and led teams in both KS1 and KS2. Additional to team leadership, I also hold roles in school leading the Computing curriculum and developing our website.
